About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop technical expertise in a particular engineering specialty
- Perform plans, investigations, surveys, structures, or equipment work within a defined scope
- Lead small-to-medium non-critical projects and provide field oversight of critical projects under supervision
- Apply technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques to assigned activities
- Support technical documentation, including designs, testing, calculations, reports, and standards
- Utilize and assist with development of procedures
- Provide ongoing technical support for Operations, Maintenance, Testing/diagnostics, Regulatory, and related project activities
- Provide supervised field engineering oversight for commissioning, testing, and inspections
- Coordinate or lead project phases including research, design, equipment selection, procurement support, installation, and commissioning
- Support bid and evaluation processes through analysis and calculations for bid documents and proposal evaluations
- Exchange information with internal organizations and external customers and vendors
- Coordinate interns, drafters, technicians, and others; guide and mentor less experienced engineers
- Maintain continuous self-development of technical skills and competencies
- Support engineering projects through budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management
Requirements
What you’ll need- Required bachelor's degree in engineering from ABET accredited curriculum
- Electrical Engineering degree or Mechanical Engineering degree preferred
- Entry level: 0+ years relevant engineering experience
- Staff level: 2+ years relevant engineering experience
- Senior level: 5+ years relevant engineering experience with EIT/FE required, or 7+ years without EIT/FE
- Ability to demonstrate the unique technical skills and core competencies established for the applicable engineering level
- EIT/FE preferred or strongly preferred at entry and staff levels
- PE registration may be required depending on business need
- Knowledge of technical standards, principles, theories, concepts, and techniques
- Ability to perform technical documentation, designs, testing, calculations, reports, and standards work
- Ability to perform basic analysis and calculations supporting bid documents and technical evaluations
- Ability to communicate with business areas, customers, and vendors
- Ability to coordinate work of interns, drafters, technicians, craft personnel, and others
- Ability to perform budgeting, estimating, forecasting, accounting, and work order management in support of engineering projects
- Ability to work onsite according to role, team, and business needs; many roles are expected onsite Tuesday–Thursday
