Key responsibilities & impact- Provide technical leadership across hardware security and connectivity solutions supporting bp’s EV charging estate
- Assess and improve the security of EV charging hardware, embedded systems, battery systems, and connected technologies
- Review supplier solutions and recommend actions to address security or connectivity risks
- Support delivery and operation of cellular connectivity services across charging infrastructure
- Lead investigations into connectivity or security incidents and drive resolution
- Define technical requirements, acceptance criteria, and assurance activities for new solutions
- Support testing, including vulnerability assessments and penetration testing
- Evaluate cellular, broadband, fibre, Ethernet, and wireless connectivity technologies
- Work with suppliers and stakeholders to balance security, performance, reliability, cost, and operational needs
- Maintain technical documentation, designs, and assurance records
- Use data and evidence for decision-making and support continuous improvement
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree or equivalent practical experience in engineering, cyber security, telecommunications, networking, software, electronics, or a related field
- Experience designing, supporting, or securing connected devices, systems, or infrastructure
- Knowledge of TCP/IP, routing, switching, DNS, DHCP, VPNs, firewalls, and secure remote access
- Experience working with cellular technologies and connectivity services
- Ability to assess technical risks and communicate recommendations to technical and non-technical audiences
- Experience collaborating with suppliers, technology partners, and cross-functional teams
- Experience in EV charging, cyber security, telecommunications, networking, IoT, operational technology, or connected infrastructure
- Nice-to-have: EV charging infrastructure; industrial or operational technology environments; PKI, certificate management, secure boot, or trusted hardware; vulnerability management, penetration testing, or security assurance; enterprise or industrial networking; IEC 62443, ISO 27001, ETSI EN 303 645, or NIS2; relevant cyber security, networking, or engineering certifications
