Requirements
What you’ll need- Significant experience building and operating production backend systems at scale
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or another backend language
- Comfort reading and reasoning about systems in languages you didn't write
- Deep familiarity with cloud infrastructure, AWS preferred, and distributed systems
- Experience with data pipelines, ETL frameworks, or stream processing in production environments
- Strong SQL and hands-on experience with cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or similar
- Hands-on use of AI tools in data platform work, including ability to describe workflows and failure modes
- Experience building something adopted by other internal teams, such as a library, pattern, or service
- Ability to communicate technical complexity clearly to engineers, product, and leadership
- Track record of shipping, not just designing
- Experience with agents, telemetry systems, or observability tooling is a bonus
- Familiarity with Kubernetes, especially customer-managed environments, is a bonus
- Experience with AWS Step Functions, Lambda, or event-driven architectures is a bonus
- Background in FinOps, billing systems, or financial data infrastructure is a bonus
- Exposure to ML pipelines or AI workload cost modeling is a bonus
- Current residence in the United States; CloudZero can only hire US residents at this time
- Ability to address US work authorization and visa sponsorship status
