About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Perform substation physical design activities, including drawings, specifications, and bills of materials
- Perform self-checking activities to ensure work quality before senior design review
- Prepare computer-assisted design and construction drawings of a complex nature
- Assist with engineering calculations, including conduit and bus sizing, lighting and lightning analysis, and grounding grid analysis
- Ensure designs conform to client and industry standards
- Communicate and coordinate project activities with senior engineers and/or project managers
- Use client and/or company information systems to track and update design activities
- Assist senior engineers during job site meetings to gather scope of work
- Assist senior engineers in answering Requests for Information during project construction
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from an ABET approved college or university
- 1-3 years of experience working in substation design or similar with utility or consulting engineering firm
- Proficient using Microsoft Office suite, including Excel, Word, and Outlook
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills and attention to detail
- Basic written and verbal communication skills
- Local candidates only
- Ability to sit/stand for up to 8 hours per day
- Ability to move freely for up to 8 hours per day
- EIT Certification preferred but not required
- Experience with AutoCAD and/or MicroStation preferred
