Key responsibilities & impact- Act as the primary third-line escalation point for complex and high-impact incidents, providing first- and second-line cover when required
- Lead root cause analysis and deliver permanent resolutions for recurring or systemic issues
- Provide technical guidance, mentoring and knowledge sharing to Solutions Desk colleagues and business users
- Administer, maintain and optimise on-premise, cloud and hybrid systems, including Windows Server, Azure, Microsoft 365 and VMware environments
- Manage patching, configuration and lifecycle activity across infrastructure and digital systems
- Maintain accurate technical documentation, configuration records and operational procedures
- Embed security and compliance requirements into systems, changes and improvement initiatives
- Monitor, investigate and respond to infrastructure and security alerts; identify vulnerabilities and escalate material risks
- Identify and implement opportunities to improve system stability, automation, standardisation, performance and user experience
- Support the planning and delivery of infrastructure, security, upgrade and digital transformation initiatives
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, suppliers, vendors and support partners to resolve issues and deliver improvements
- Ensure critical business applications remain operational and supported
Requirements
What you’ll need- Industry-recognised infrastructure or networking qualification, for example Microsoft, Cisco or equivalent
- Minimum five years experience in a third-line support or senior systems role
- Strong experience with Windows Server 2016 or later, Azure cloud and local environments, and VMware
- Strong networking knowledge, including TCP/IP, VPNs and modern network architectures
- Advanced administration of Microsoft Azure, Microsoft 365 and hybrid identity environments
- Experience using security and infrastructure monitoring platforms and responding to alerts
- Demonstrable ability to troubleshoot complex infrastructure, identity and application issues
- Strong technical documentation, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
- Ability to work independently, prioritise effectively and maintain attention to detail
- ITIL Foundation qualification or equivalent service management experience
- PowerShell or other scripting and automation experience
- Experience supporting ERP systems, such as Sage X3
- SharePoint administration and site development experience
- SQL Server querying or administration experience
- Experience working in a healthcare, medical device or other regulated environment
