Key responsibilities & impact- Analyze, research, design and develop materials and related fabrication and application processes
- Develop and optimize materials for engineering design and application in structures, systems and subsystems
- Apply chemistry, physics and material-behavior principles to metallic, non-metallic and composite materials
- Develop materials and processing specifications, fabrication and assembly processes
- Develop, analyze and apply material properties, design allowables, processing processes and quality engineering specifications
- Perform failure analyses of components, systems and subsystems
- Conduct life predictions and define requirement specifications
- Review and approve subcontractor material-processing procedures
- Develop and run high-level projects advancing Blast/Coatings and Special Hull Treatment commodities
- Generate concepts, gather stakeholder input, define projects, obtain funding approval and execute projects
- Scout technologies and work with vendors and all levels of management to complete projects
- Apply technical, operational, equipment and facilities knowledge of blast and paint processes
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's Degree and 9 years of relevant exempt experience; Master’s Degree and 7 years of relevant professional experience; Ph.D. and 4 years of experience
- Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program required
- U.S. citizenship required
- Strong working knowledge of all AMPP standards and guides
- Working knowledge of critical coated records
- AMPP certifications (C1, CIP-1, CIP-2 etc.)
- Proficient with blast and paint processes
- Familiarity with Special Hull Treatment drawings, process, manufacturing and installation equipment
- Highly proficient in technical writing
- Strong communication skills
- Ability to work with all levels of management
- Self-motivated and able to efficiently execute high-visibility projects
- Willingness/ability to travel up to 10% of the time
- No security clearance required to start
