Key responsibilities & impact- Own core infrastructure areas end to end, including databases, Kubernetes, version upgrades, and platform tooling
- Provide day-to-day infrastructure support
- Build paved paths that enable engineers, non-engineers, and AI agents to test and ship changes safely
- Gain access to and work with AWS accounts, Kubernetes clusters, monitoring, and CI/CD pipelines
- Read and improve runbooks and architecture documentation
- Ship infrastructure improvements such as version upgrades and monitoring fixes
- Participate in and eventually own a share of the on-call rotation
- Become the go-to person for day-to-day infrastructure questions
- Reduce recurring sources of pages
- Build sandbox environments for AI agents or non-engineers
- Lead infrastructure projects independently
- Maintain uptime at 99.9% or better
- Reduce page volume and identify cost savings
- Improve observability so AI agents can handle some on-call load
- Document infrastructure decisions
- Report to the VP of Engineering and collaborate with infrastructure, product engineering, and non-engineering teams
Requirements
What you’ll need- Around 7 or more years in infrastructure, platform, DevOps, or SRE roles
- Experience running production infrastructure on AWS at scale, including managed relational databases, networking, and load balancing
- Experience operating Kubernetes in production, including upgrades, capacity planning, and troubleshooting
- Experience managing infrastructure as code
- Experience maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Experience building monitoring and alerting systems
- Experience diagnosing complex, multi-service incidents
- Experience cutting cloud costs through right-sizing and reserved capacity
- Experience writing clear runbooks, documentation, and decision write-ups
- Experience owning production infrastructure for a product where downtime costs customers money
- Experience carrying a pager for systems owned and improving on-call rotations
- Experience leading a major upgrade or migration with little or no customer impact
- Experience building self-service tooling or paved paths adopted by engineers
- Experience working on a small infrastructure team
- Ability to participate in a three-person on-call rotation and respond to pages outside usual working hours
- Nice to have: experience with Cloudflare, ephemeral or sandbox environments, or email sending infrastructure
