About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Perform assembly and test activities in the shop when not on a field service call
  • Deliver demand and scheduled Field Service, Warranty Service, and System Start Up to existing and new Oilgear customers worldwide
  • Travel to customer sites, including domestic and international travel, with 75% travel required
  • Provide service for hydraulic and electrical equipment
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot customer hydraulic/electrical systems
  • Collaborate with internal departments for efficient solutions
  • Operate diagnostic equipment for hydraulic and electronic systems
  • Develop service reports and other documentation
  • Assist customers in understanding and operating Oilgear products
  • Participate in or conduct customer training sessions
  • Stay current with new technologies, industry trends, and best practices in hydraulic systems
  • Gather customer feedback, recommend improvements, identify upgrade opportunities, and share insights with engineers
  • Assist in the shop with repairs or maintenance when required
  • Work in confined spaces and elevated areas, including rig derricks up to 200 feet
  • Travel regularly to offshore oil rigs and land/vessel customer sites, with assignments potentially lasting up to 6 weeks
  • Promote the sale of Oilgear upgrades to existing and competitive installations within the customer base

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • High school diploma, GED, or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Minimum of 2 years of mechanical and electrical experience
  • Specific experience with hydraulically operated machinery, troubleshooting, and system analysis
  • Valid driver’s license with a good driving record
  • Valid passport or ability to obtain one
  • Ability to pass offshore safety classes
  • Solid understanding of hydraulic systems, including hydraulic pumps, valves, and schematics
  • Ability to read and interpret basic electrical drawings and hydraulic schematics
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office
  • Satisfactory background check, motor vehicle check, and drug screening required
  • Fluid power technology or related background preferred
  • Offshore experience preferred
  • PASO system experience preferred
  • Strong communication skills to resolve complex issues and facilitate customer satisfaction
  • Ability to listen actively and provide feedback to internal teams to improve customer satisfaction
