Key responsibilities & impact- Set technical direction for AISight, PathAI's digital pathology platform used by pathologists and labs worldwide
- Own architecture of major platform areas and drive technical strategy aligned with the product roadmap
- Lead design and delivery of complex, multi-team initiatives from ambiguous problem definition through production
- Write and review technical designs, identify risks early, and make tradeoffs explicit
- Write production code for critical and technically demanding system components
- Establish engineering standards for code quality, testing, observability, security, and performance

- Collaborate with product, design, machine learning, infrastructure, QA, and regulatory teams
- Ensure software reliability, data integrity, patient data protection, and compliance with regulated medical-device requirements, including design controls and validation
- Mentor senior and mid-level engineers and develop technical leadership
- Help shape hiring and onboarding practices
- Represent engineering in discussions with customers, partners, and stakeholders
- Explain complex technical concepts to non-experts
Requirements
What you’ll need- BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a closely related technical field, or equivalent practical experience
- 8+ years of full lifecycle software development experience, including significant time in a senior or technical lead role
- Track record of architecting and shipping large-scale production systems and leading technical initiatives across team boundaries
- Deep expertise in backend or frontend development, with working proficiency in the other
- Backend expertise in Python-based applications and APIs, Django or FastAPI, data modeling, PostgreSQL, and distributed or event-driven systems
- Frontend expertise in complex, performant web applications with modern JavaScript frameworks such as Vue or React, state management, frontend architecture, and UX quality
- Strong foundation in data structures, algorithms, and system design
- Hands-on experience building and operating systems on a cloud platform; AWS preferred
- Ability to influence technical decisions through clear writing, sound judgment, and collaboration
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively with a distributed team and non-technical stakeholders
- Experience building software in regulated environments or healthtech preferred
- Experience with medical imaging, digital pathology, or large image and data visualization preferred
- Hands-on experience with CI/CD tooling preferred
- Experience with Docker and Kubernetes preferred
- Experience with infrastructure-as-code frameworks preferred
- Experience integrating ML models or AI-powered features into production applications preferred
