About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Assist the EHS Manager in managing environmental compliance, loss control, safety, health, fire prevention, emergency response planning, and associated training programs
- Assist in maintaining accurate EHS programs and metrics for facility management and corporate reporting systems
- Coach management and employees on compliance with audits and EHS regulations
- Provide formal and informal safety training to employees, supervisors, and managers
- Facilitate safety orientation for new employees and visiting contractors
- Conduct departmental risk assessments and recommend practice, policy, procedure, and risk mitigation improvements
- Conduct health and safety inspections and audits; monitor and document corrective actions
- Maintain an active presence on the production and warehouse floor; observe employees and provide feedback and coaching
- Conduct environmental compliance audits and inspections
- Assist with environmental compliance reports and permits
- Respond to and investigate EHS incidents and drive closure of corrective and preventive actions
- Participate in meetings and work groups to communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and stay current on developments, requirements, policies, and regulatory guidelines
- Perform other related duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or degree in a Science-related field with a minimum 1 year of work experience dedicated to health and safety and/or environmental field in an industrial setting, or equivalent education and work experience
- Computer skills, specifically Microsoft Office Suite
- Working knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local regulations, as well as corporate guidelines and policies
- Ability to perform essential duties satisfactorily
- Ability to work with departments, site and corporate EHS, government agencies, industry associations, and industry peers
