About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and lead process instrumentation and control systems tasks
- Work on municipal water/wastewater management systems, power plants, industrial automation systems, microgrid control systems, combined heat and power systems, utilities, universities, campuses, and industrial facilities
- Evaluate existing systems
- Participate in the design of plant control and instrumentation systems for industrial applications
- Collect, interpret, and analyze data from reports, drawings, and tests
- Prepare and review design computations and quantity estimates
- Prepare project documentation, drawings, and technical specifications
- Direct designers and technicians in converting engineering designs into working drawings
- Evaluate design alternatives and make recommendations based on technical analysis, cost-effectiveness, and project requirements
- Participate in client communications and onsite and offsite meetings
- Develop probable design cost estimates and assist with detailed project budgets
- Respond to client inquiries and requests for information
- Maintain project documentation, including calculations, correspondence, meeting minutes, and technical memoranda
- Maintain adherence to quality assurance and quality control standards
- Work with P&IDs, I/O lists, instrument data sheets, cable schedules, procurement specifications, logic and SAMA diagrams
- Support bid evaluation, construction, installation, and commissioning of control systems
- Work closely with the site engineering group during installation and commissioning
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an ABET accredited college or university required; BSEE preferred
- Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam taken and passed
- Must be able to attain PE license
- Minimum of 4 years of progressive experience in an engineering discipline
- Demonstrated experience with engineering design, analysis, and construction administration
- Experience with project coordination and multi-disciplinary team collaboration
- Experience developing and leading process instrumentation and control systems tasks
- Experience with Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLCs)
- Experience with P&IDs, I/O lists, instrument data sheets, cable schedules, procurement specifications, logic diagrams, and SAMA diagrams
- Ability to participate in bid evaluation, construction support, installation, and commissioning
- PE license preferred but not required
