Key responsibilities & impact- Perform monthly and quarterly bank reconciliations in Workday, including clearing unapplied deposits and cash
- Reconcile balance sheet accounts on an accrual basis each quarter and research and correct unnatural or stale balances
- Support the transition to accrual-basis accounting through prepaid amortization, depreciation, payroll/PTO/bonus/commission accruals, and other month-end adjustments
- Assist with accounts payable, including invoice coding, cost-center/worktag completion, and 1099 vendor tracking
- Assist with accounts receivable, including cash application, unapplied payment research, and weekly reconciliation of time-and-billing data
- Support payroll-related reconciliations by matching payroll journal entries to ADP settlement detail and reviewing benefits deductions
- Build and maintain a documented monthly close checklist
- Take on increasing responsibility for recurring, process-driven accounting work as Workday automation comes online
- Work directly with the CFO and an experienced controller consultant to help build the finance and accounting function
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting required
- 3–5 years of general ledger / staff accounting experience, including journal entries, account reconciliations, AP/AR, and month-end close support
- Solid working knowledge of GAAP and double-entry accounting fundamentals
- Comfort with Excel for reconciliation and analysis work, including lookups and pivot tables
- Workday Financials experience is a strong plus
- High attention to detail and comfort working through unresolved or messy data
- Self-starter comfortable in a lean, fast-moving environment
- Experience in a professional services or consulting business is nice to have
- Prior exposure to a system conversion or ERP implementation is nice to have
- Interest in growing into a senior accountant or assistant controller role is nice to have
