About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Reconcile general ledger accounts monthly, cash receipts daily, and subsequent receipts quarterly
- Maintain the general ledger
- Prepare, record, and verify monthly journal entries
- Identify and resolve discrepancies
- Maintain and improve internal controls and accounting procedures
- Assist in variance analysis
- Maintain insurance policies and the insurance policy database
- Request annual and as-needed Certificates of Insurance
- Maintain financial compliance with DFI, PPFA, and other federal, state, and local reporting requirements
- Create, prepare, and analyze monthly and on-demand financial reports
- Design and analyze financial reports across accounting department platforms, including Financial Edge, EPIC, and ENVI
- Complete internal and external finance reporting requirements
- Prepare workpapers and documentation for internal and external audits
- Work with and respond to external auditors' requests
- Maintain and update the department policy and procedure manual
- Assist with the annual budgeting process
- Assist with year-end close
- Perform as a backup for the Accounts Payable process
- Assist the Director of Finance and Analytics and CFO with other duties as assigned
Requirements

- Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Attention to detail, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills
- Effective oral and written communication skills
- Experience working with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience using accounting software; Financial Edge preferred
- Bachelor's degree in accounting required
- CPA certification a plus
- Minimum 3 years of progressive accounting experience
- Nonprofit and/or healthcare experience strongly preferred
- Ability to sit, bend, stand, and walk; occasional stooping, reaching, stair-climbing, and repetitive hand/wrist motions
- Ability to lift up to 30 pounds
- Ability to operate a computer, telephone, fax, copy machine, and adding machine or calculator
- Occasional evening and/or weekend hours may be necessary
