About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Conceptualize and create standout design work for the OkayAfrica brand
- Shape the brand's visual identity and creative direction
- Design assets for paid social media campaigns
- Design newsletters
- Create graphics for editorial stories
- Produce graphics and edit video for social media
- Design websites and contribute basic UX/UI work
- Bring high-quality creativity to deadlines and maintain attention to detail
- Collaborate with the Creative team on multimedia and experiential programming centered on African music and culture
Requirements
What you’ll need- Proficient to expert-level in Photoshop, Illustrator, Figma, Premiere Pro / Final Cut Pro, After Effects, and Audacity, Audition, or Pro Tools
- Nice to have: Webflow, HTML & CSS, and Blender
- Comfortable with DSLR cameras for photo and video
- Comfortable with studio lighting
- Comfortable with podcast audio engineering
- Strong foundation in design principles, typography, and color theory
- Basic UX/UI skills
- Experience working in a music media environment or agency
- 5+ years of experience as a graphic designer, ideally with senior-level ownership of projects
- Must be NYC-based
- Availability for some nights and weekends as needed for shoots and events
