Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build, test, deploy, run, and monitor backend features and services across payments, fraud, compliance, and user management
- Build and maintain integrations with banks, card networks, and other third-party services
- Handle edge cases associated with money movement
- Write and review technical designs
- Participate in architecture discussions
- Find and fix bottlenecks and failure modes across microservices
- Improve test quality and observability
- Collaborate with product and compliance teams to translate business and regulatory requirements into working software
Requirements
What you’ll need- 3+ years of professional software engineering experience building production backend systems
- Track record of delivering features independently from ambiguous requirements through production
- Solid foundation in algorithms, data structures, and computer science fundamentals
- Working experience with distributed systems, event-driven architectures, or microservices
- Ability and willingness to travel up to approximately 15% annually
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
- Python 3 and web frameworks and APIs, especially Flask
- Experience with SQL and NoSQL databases
- Google Cloud Platform or similar cloud platforms
- Familiarity with domain-driven design, clean architecture, and CQRS is a plus
- Financial systems experience, including payment processing, fraud detection, or compliance systems, preferred
- Familiarity with AML, KYC, PCI DSS, or similar regulations, preferred
- Experience with financial APIs and money movement systems such as ACH and card networks, preferred
- Experience building and maintaining third-party integrations, preferred
- Experience with systems processing high transaction volumes, preferred
- Authorization to work in the United States
- Must not require visa sponsorship to continue working in the United States
