About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Function as a highly skilled contributor/researcher with significant authorship on publications
- Apply advanced knowledge of laboratory and experimental platforms to advance basic and/or translational research programs
- Provide leadership and oversee quality and training of other team members
- Design, develop, and conduct research experiments
- Apply expert knowledge of program-specific methods and advanced data-analysis techniques
- Assist with grant and other funding applications as necessary and appropriate
- Develop and manage independent research projects or specific program areas with faculty director approval
- Serve as principal investigator on funded grant proposals with responsible Emory faculty director approval
- Provide scientific and technical support for studies focused on arboviral and other infectious diseases and autoimmune disorders
- Perform, optimize, and troubleshoot laboratory assays including ELISA, PCR/qPCR, nucleic acid extraction, serologic testing, and other immunological and molecular techniques
- Perform other responsibilities as required
Requirements
What you’ll need- PhD and two years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab OR master's degree and four years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab OR bachelor's degree and six years of professional level experience in a technical or research lab
- Laboratory experience based on area of assignment
- Internship experience or experience prior to attaining the qualifying degree is not considered eligible work experience
- Demonstrated ability to independently develop, validate, and implement laboratory assays, optimize protocols, and implement new methodologies
- Experience working with animal models
- Familiarity with experimental design, specimen collection, and animal protocol compliance
