Key responsibilities & impact- Design, build, and operate Python and Node.js (TypeScript/Encore) microservices
- Define service boundaries, APIs, data flows, and integrations
- Build and maintain crawling, enrichment, company analysis, and scoring pipelines orchestrated with Prefect
- Model data and optimize PostgreSQL queries, including schema design, migrations, indexing, and query performance
- Build resilient, idempotent processing with asynchronous messaging and background job queues
- Integrate LLM APIs into production workflows for extraction, classification, and summarization
- Own features end-to-end from requirements and technical design through implementation, testing, Railway deployment, and monitoring
- Improve observability and performance across services and LLM calls through tracing, metrics, slow-query analysis, and failure-rate monitoring
- Drive architecture decisions and write technical designs
- Mentor other engineers through reviews and pairing
- Contribute to n8n automation and internal tooling as needed
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6+ years of professional backend experience, with at least 4 years of Python in production
- 2+ years of professional TypeScript/Node.js experience building backend services
- Deep experience with async/await, type hints, FastAPI or similar, Pydantic, and pytest
- Strong command of microservice architecture, including service decomposition, API design, resiliency, idempotency, and observability
- Production experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, and query optimization
- Experience with message queues or workflow orchestration such as Prefect, Celery, NSQ, RabbitMQ, or Kafka
- Track record of owning systems end-to-end in production, including incidents and performance work
- Habitual use of AI tools in day-to-day development and ability to apply AI effectively
- Clear communication, ownership mindset, and a bias toward shipping
- Nice to have: Encore experience specifically
- Nice to have: web scraping and crawling at scale, LLM API products, LLM observability and evaluation tooling, observability stacks, analytics tooling, qori, Docker and cloud deployment, infrastructure as code, security best practices, email/CRM integrations, and M&A, private equity, or B2B data familiarity
