Key responsibilities & impact- Develop dynamic thermal simulation tools at the building scale, including energy balances, heat transfer through the building envelope, ventilation and heating systems, and interactions with outdoor weather conditions
- Develop dynamic thermal simulation tools at the animal scale, including metabolic heat production, heat exchange with the immediate environment, thermoregulation, and heat stress
- Validate models by comparing them with data from livestock farms or experimental trials
- Contribute to the development of digital twins for livestock buildings to enable real-time prediction of indoor environmental conditions
- Help disseminate research findings through publications, presentations, and knowledge transfer to industry professionals
- Collaborate with members of the Environment team and experts from a range of disciplines
Requirements
What you’ll need- Degree from an engineering school, or a Master’s or PhD in thermal engineering, energy engineering, building physics, applied mathematics, numerical modeling, or a related field
- Strong interest in physical systems modeling
- Interest in livestock farming or agronomy
- Knowledge of mathematical and physical modeling
- Proficiency in programming; Python preferred
- Interest in numerical equation solving and scientific computing
- Experience with computational fluid dynamics (CFD) is a plus
- Knowledge of animal science or animal physiology would be an advantage
- Team-oriented, with the ability to interact with experts from diverse fields, including engineers, researchers, and livestock technicians
- Rigor and strong analytical skills
- Curiosity and a drive to innovate
- Based in Rennes (35) preferred, with the possibility of assignment to Nouzilly (37)
