Key responsibilities & impact- Manage transportation for products and parts orders, ensuring timely and accurate delivery to customers and designated storage locations
- Analyze transportation costs and delivery performance; develop and implement action plans to improve efficiency and reduce inbound freight costs
- Select and coordinate transportation providers for domestic and international shipments, including freight forwarders, packagers, and logistics partners
- Arrange transportation for urgent customer needs and expedite critical inbound deliveries
- Input, update, and track transportation data and generate reporting as needed
- Create and update transportation schedules in collaboration with Production Coordinators
- Investigate shipping delays and recommend corrective actions
- Update shipping due dates on customer orders and prepare and provide shipping documentation
- Monitor transportation capacity for inbound and outbound shipping demands
- Assess freight forwarders and transportation providers based on cost, service, and reliability metrics
- Produce weekly and monthly logistics performance reports
- Recommend improvements to company policies, procedures, and transportation processes
- Support and assist the Manufacturing Manager as needed
- Collaborate with internal departments, customers, suppliers, carriers, and external partners
- Maintain knowledge of and adherence to MEPPI’s Quality, Safety, and Environmental policies
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s degree in Business, Engineering, or a related field
- Minimum of 5 years of experience supporting production operations or logistics functions
- Equivalent combination of education and experience accepted
- Training or experience in transportation regulations, including import/export logistics
- Familiarity with freight forwarding, logistics operations, and supply chain coordination
- Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and respond to changing demands
- Effective communication skills for working with internal teams and external partners
- Advanced computer skills with MS Office
- Experience with MRP/ERP systems and business reporting tools
- Ability to use standard office equipment (PC, copier, etc.)
- Ability to communicate effectively with others to complete work
- Ability to analyze data and make informed decisions
