About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Support fuel cell products installed in electric lift trucks
  • Install and service fuel cells at a specific customer location
  • Perform preventative maintenance and resolve breakdowns
  • Report breakdown events, order parts, and maintain fuel cells
  • Maintain and service fuel cells at customer sites
  • Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and evaluations to maintain the fleet
  • Perform field retrofits and software and hardware upgrades
  • Provide on-call and emergency customer support
  • Purchase tools, equipment, and parts as required
  • Troubleshoot and maintain high-pressure hydrogen storage, 480VAC, flammability, cryogenic liquid, high-pressure gas, and fueling systems as needed
  • Communicate with customer personnel and hydrogen suppliers regarding aftermarket support
  • Provide feedback to regional service representatives on fuel cell performance and maintenance issues
  • Complete incident reports, service logs, inventory maintenance, and site/system documentation
  • Exhibit and enforce safety procedures in the field and at customer sites
  • Travel as required for business needs and drive safely in accordance with traffic laws
  • Represent Plug Power professionally
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent with technical electrical coursework
  • Three (3) or more years of direct experience in mechanical and electrical troubleshooting
  • Formal training and education may be also considered in lieu of direct experience
  • Must possess a valid driver license, a clean driving record, and the ability to safely operate a motor vehicle
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds on regular basis unassisted
  • Knowledge of lift truck operation and applications is highly preferred
  • General mechanical aptitude is required
  • Computer and software systems skills, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Outlook
  • Dynamic interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with diverse audiences and stakeholders at all levels
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Creativity in solving technical problems
  • Ability to work independently
  • Uncompromising dedication to quality
  • Exceptional time management skills with the ability to handle multiple tasks
  • Punctual and reliable
  • Technician must provide own standard set of tools; specific fuel cell tools provided by Plug Power
