Key responsibilities & impact- Deliver self-service platform features end to end, from specification to production, working with AI agents across every layer of the platform
- Build Java 21/Spring Boot backend services integrating with GitHub, Azure DevOps, Active Directory, ServiceNow, CyberArk, Cloudsmith, Snyk and SonarQube
- Develop the DevX portal using Angular and the documentation site using MkDocs
- Create Azure DevOps pipeline templates, component templates and TypeScript pipeline extensions
- Implement policy-as-code using OPA/Rego for automated change-management checks
- Manage infrastructure as code, Kubernetes on Amazon EKS, RDS PostgreSQL and the platform's CI/CD
- Write unit tests, automated functional tests and post-deployment checks for every change
- Build and improve agent skills, steering and knowledge bases supporting AI-native delivery
- Solve integration and reliability problems with focus on blast radius, observability and safe rollout
- Support the platform capabilities built by the team
- Help manage Aflac's DevOps tooling estate, including GitHub, Azure DevOps and build agents, SonarQube, Snyk and Cloudsmith, keeping tools secure, reliable and integrated
Requirements
What you’ll need- Minimum of 3 years of commercial software engineering, delivering features end to end
- Strong skills in Java (Spring Boot) or TypeScript, and confidence working in other languages
- Experience with REST APIs, microservices and cloud-native design patterns
- Hands-on CI/CD pipeline experience (Azure DevOps preferred)
- Working knowledge of Docker and at least one cloud platform (AWS preferred)
- Understanding of DevSecOps and building security into delivery pipelines
- Daily use of AI coding assistants or agents, or a strong drive to work that way, with the judgement to review and own what they produce
- High agency: act like an owner, work self-sufficiently when needed and see problems through to resolution
- Clear written and verbal communication, and a collaborative, customer-focused mindset
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a STEM subject (or comparable experience)
- Highly desirable experience in Azure DevOps YAML templates, extensions and decorators; Kubernetes/Amazon EKS, AWS IAM and RDS, and IaC; Angular or React, Node.js, and Python or Bash scripting; Snyk, SonarQube, OIDC/OAuth 2.0, Active Directory, CyberArk; test automation frameworks, Dynatrace and PostgreSQL; Kiro or GitHub Copilot, and prompt and context engineering; mentoring and upskilling junior engineers
- Bonus points for Amazon Bedrock AgentCore, MCP servers, agent skills, Open Policy Agent (Rego), and developer experience metrics/platform adoption measurement
