Key responsibilities & impact- Provide transportation analysis focused on business unit and supply chain requirements
- Recommend freight cost savings and streamlining opportunities
- Provide quarterly business-unit reports covering cost-saving opportunities and results
- Develop and maintain billing systems for accurate supplier payments and account coding
- Resolve shipping issues and recommend process improvements
- Create and revise standard operating procedures for logistics processes
- Manage freight forwarder and carrier SOPs
- Create and track transportation process documents
- Manage freight rates in the Oracle Transportation Management (OTM) tool
- Maintain approved-carrier lists and routing guides; train and enforce routing-guide use
- Conduct quarterly business reviews with business units and carriers
- Prepare shipping forecasts
- Review and negotiate carrier contracts and freight rates
- Work with business units to maximize transportation savings and provide quarterly status reports
- Guide and advise departments to optimize logistics performance
- Take corrective action with carriers following service failures
- Manage one-time rate quotes and shipments
- Monitor and develop transportation KPIs
- Manage and optimize domestic and international transportation operations
- Analyze global transportation data and manage international freight and carrier relationships
- Partner with business units and regional teams to improve logistics efficiency and reduce costs
- Lead carrier performance reviews and strategic transportation projects
- Drive continuous improvement across Coherent's global transportation network
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in transportation, logistics and/or supply chain
- 7+ years of work experience managing transportation for a company the size of Coherent
- Experience in carrier or other related third-party management
- Strong understanding of incoterms
- Experience in contractual and negotiation management
- Project management skills and experience
- Proficiency in MS Office skills (Excel, PPT, Word, etc.)
- Knowledge of creating process flow diagrams using Microsoft Visio
- Knowledge of databases and Power BI is an advantage
