About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Educate DaVita patients about health insurance and the implications of different insurance options
- Help patients make informed employment and insurance decisions
- Provide information about insurance coverage and financial assistance programs
- Conduct patient insurance education within company compliance parameters
- Identify opportunities to improve patients' insurance status and reduce financial risk
- Provide customer service across multiple DaVita Dialysis facilities
- Complete insurance assessments and evaluations and document patient education sessions
- Liaise between patients, facility teammates, billing office, and corporate office to resolve insurance issues
- Build and maintain relationships with field partners
- Work with the supervisor/manager on objectives, deadlines, and reporting requirements
- Provide monthly reporting and analysis on patient education and advocacy metrics
- Participate in monthly operations reviews
- Identify process improvement opportunities
- Attend team meetings, phone conferences, and trainings
- Assist with onboarding and training new teammates as needed
- Travel to DaVita clinics in McAllen, Edinburg, Harlingen, Brownsville, Laredo, Corpus Christi, and surrounding areas; possible overnight stays in Corpus Christi
- Provide in-person patient support up to 3–4 times per week and work from home on other days
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is required
- Full vaccination against COVID-19 or a medical/religious exemption is required
- High School Diploma or equivalent is required
- Basic computer skills
- High-speed internet (minimum of 40 GB)
- Private workspace
- Secure transportation to DaVita facilities
- Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required
- Valid driver's license within the state of application with an acceptable driving record
- Ability to squat, walk, and stand for more than 15 minutes
- Must be comfortable with the sight of blood
- Candidate must reside in Harlingen, McAllen, Brownsville, or the surrounding area
- Minimum of two (2) years' experience working with Medicare and Medicaid insurance as well as commercial insurance plans and benefits (PPO, HMO, POS, EPO, Indemnity) strongly preferred
- Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in a healthcare organization working with clinical staff and patients preferred
