About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Counsel patients on cost of treatment, insurance benefits, payment resources, and financial assistance
- Secure and document payment arrangements
- Assist patients with financing, payment plans, financial assistance, and financial options
- Audit bills for accuracy and edit front-end inaccuracies to increase collections and decrease write-offs
- Work closely with Revenue Site Operations and division leadership to improve collections
- Serve as a financial advocate for patients and liaison between Revenue Site Operations and Patient Financial Services
- Determine liability on patient accounts and work with patients or representatives to provide financial assistance or secure payment
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or GED
- Minimum two (2) to three (3) years experience working in Patient Access or Patient Accounting for hospital registration and/or hospital reimbursement services
- Obtain National certification in HFMA CRCR and/or NAHAM CHAA within one (1) year of hire
- Understanding of basic billing and coding
- Experience in the Medicaid Application process
