About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and execute inbound and/or outbound global logistics functions
- Monitor purchase orders and coordinate with buyers, vendors, freight forwarders, and carriers for timely, accurate, and cost-effective delivery
- Monitor and rectify import shipment exceptions
- Serve as the customer point of contact for outbound project logistics while supporting the GE Project Manager
- Oversee project plans and freight estimates for customer project communication
- Conduct RFQs for internal stakeholders and provide cost/cycle scenarios
- Develop outbound logistics strategies to optimize cycle cost within baseline EAC
- Manage and report full project lifecycle estimated cost at completion
- Support competitive total landed cost logistics quotes throughout the ITO/OTR cycle
- Maintain project logistics risks and opportunities to enable leakage mitigation and savings
- Identify and implement cost-effective transport modes, routes, carriers, container utilization, and consolidations
- Maintain shipment schedules, shipment status reports, and in-transit inventory reports
- Oversee inbound container receipts, drop shipments, and direct imports to customers
- Monitor demurrage and detention charges
- Record shipment details and manage receivers using applicable tools
- Ensure accuracy of commercial invoices, packing slips, bills of lading, certificates of origin, and other logistics documents
- Coordinate with freight forwarders, customs brokers, and carriers to resolve issues
- Assist with regional transport programs, audits, record keeping, and reporting
- Assist in managing import shipment and customs activities
- Assist in negotiating domestic freight contracts
- Communicate cost changes, shipment issues, and supply concerns to relevant personnel
- Maintain carrier and service-provider relationships
- Develop and monitor international routing instructions
- Collect transport drawings and provide them to carriers
- Track KPIs and facilitate reviews and corrective actions
- Coordinate quality-related escalations, CoPQs, and RCAs and recommend sustained-improvement solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college
- 3+ years of experience in logistics, project management, or supply chain function
- International logistics experience, including transportation, customs, supply chain standards, geographical concerns, free trade agreements, and accreditives
- Advanced-level English required; ideally one other language
- Proven leadership and facilitation skills
- Ability to work independently
- Comfort working in matrixed cross-functional environments
- Demonstrated ability to deliver results
- Ability to multitask and prioritize
- Problem-solving and communication skills
- Planning and organizational skills
- Competence in MS Excel and PowerPoint
- Legally authorized to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a drug screen, as applicable
