About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Ensure overall team performance in quality, safety, reliability, waste, and sanitation to achieve business goals
- Encourage continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives
- Coach, train, and ensure compliance with plant procedures, work rules, safety, and sanitation guidelines
- Ensure activities follow documented operating procedures and recommend updates
- Coordinate and schedule crew vacation requests and overtime
- Determine and conduct training for new and existing employees
- Ensure products meet quality standards and coordinate problem solving with the QA floor inspector
- Resolve minor mechanical and processing problems and make adjustments to keep the line running
- Perform job tasks of other team members in jobs of equal or lower grades
- Facilitate teamwork and coaching among team members
- Hold meetings for production tracking, problem solving, and team development
- Report to the Team Manager
Requirements
What you’ll need- Excellent attendance required
- Meets standards in overall performance rating in most recent performance review
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Three years of manufacturing and/or industrial experience required
- Demonstrated ability to perform changeovers and preventative maintenance on all production equipment required
- Demonstrated ability to diagnose mechanical problems and resolve minor mechanical and processing problems required
- Demonstrated ability to understand financial impact of business decisions affecting staffing, product components, and inventory required
- Demonstrated computer skills, including knowledge of Excel, Word, statistical database applications, and Lotus Notes required
- Demonstrated ability to proactively encourage continuous improvement and daily problem-solving initiatives required
- Proven ability to coach, train, and influence while demonstrating respect for the capabilities of all people required
- Strong oral and written communication and interpersonal skills required
- Demonstrated analytical and critical-thinking skills to determine risk assessment required
- Ability to work overtime and weekends required
- Knowledge of SAP, Infinity, PowerPoint, and Access preferred
- Formal leadership training strongly preferred
- Demonstrated competency to operate all equipment in the business strongly preferred
- Experience effectively leading and facilitating team and cross-functional meetings strongly preferred
