Role fitUse this summary to align your resume positioning with the role.
Demonstrates expertise in building and optimizing runtime architectures for accelerators, focusing on memory management, low-level performance, and effective interfaces with compilers and drivers. Proven ability to manage complex systems components from design to production while collaborating across teams to drive technical decisions.
Tech Stack
Tools & technologiesAbout the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the runtime architecture, including device management, memory allocation, host-device transfer, executable loading, and command submission
- Build the runtime against simulators and FPGA prototypes behind one stable interface before silicon arrives
- Abstract differences between simulators, FPGA prototypes, silicon, and later hardware generations
- Manage hardware-resident device state, including resident model weights between requests
- Minimize runtime overhead on the critical path for LLM inference, optimizing end-to-end latency and throughput
- Define interfaces with the compiler, driver, and firmware
- Set the runtime's technical direction and review dependent designs
- Collaborate with compiler and serving engineers to develop effective interfaces
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience building runtimes, drivers, or hardware abstraction layers for accelerators or other non-standard hardware
- Strong systems programming in C++ or Rust, including memory management, concurrency, and low-level performance
- Track record of owning a complex systems component end to end, from design through production
- Experience driving technical decisions across teams
- Understanding of LLM inference workloads and runtime requirements
- Comfort building software for evolving hardware, from simulation through bring-up
- Experience with open runtime designs such as IREE's HAL, or CUDA or ROCm runtime internals (bonus)
- Experience with in-memory compute or other non-von-Neumann hardware (bonus)
- Experience integrating a runtime with an inference server such as vLLM (bonus)
- Contributions to open-source runtime or systems infrastructure (bonus)
