Key responsibilities & impact- Build and own OpenRouter’s dollar-and-token value capture engine
- Implement flexible pricing and contract terms, including BYOK pricing, overages, platform fees and per-seat pricing
- Automate quote-to-cash from signed contract through customer provisioning and billing
- Build credit transfers at onboarding and self-serve credit grants for Customer Success
- Establish the financial source of truth for fees, plans and entitlements
- Define robust data architecture for internal and customer reporting
- Meter, price and record every completed request exactly once
- Reconcile usage and spending against customer charges
- Own invoicing, prepaid credits, auto top-ups, refunds, tax/VAT, purchase orders and commitment tracking
- Integrate Stripe and manage failed-payment recovery and overdue-invoice collections
- Build a double-entry ledger and automate reconciliation across Postgres, Stripe, billing and usage data
- Own provider settlements and payables and provide Finance with close-ready numbers
- Partner with Provider on usage tracking, cost attribution and pricing/discounts
- Partner with Trust & Safety on payments fraud and abuse prevention
- Implement idempotency, anomaly detection, auditability and least-privilege access controls
Requirements
What you’ll need- 5+ years building production financial systems: billing, payments, ledgers or revenue infrastructure, at a fintech or a usage-based SaaS company
- Deep fluency in idempotency, double-entry accounting, exactly-once event processing, reconciliation and safe migrations of financial data
- Hands-on experience with Stripe or similar processors and a billing/invoicing platform, including contract, subscription and usage-based models
- Strong TypeScript and SQL
- Comfortable with Postgres and analytical stores such as ClickHouse at high event volume
- Working knowledge of AR/AP, revenue recognition, deferred revenue and month-end close
- Ability to partner across Provider, Trust & Safety, Sales, CS and Finance
- High agency and AI-forward; use coding agents daily and automate manual finance operations
- Nice to have: usage-based, hybrid or seat-based billing at scale
- Nice to have: streaming data pipelines such as Dataflow, Spanner or Kafka
- Nice to have: payments fraud and risk systems such as Stripe Radar
- Nice to have: multi-currency, sales tax/VAT or global payment methods
- Nice to have: financial systems audit readiness
