Key responsibilities & impact- Build data processing infrastructure underpinning Palantir Foundry
- Work on computation representation, query-plan optimisation, operator execution, and efficient data access
- Build on and extend Apache Spark, Apache DataFusion, and Apache Iceberg
- Support Foundry products and workloads including no-code pipelines, interactive analysis, and Ontology updates
- Write planning rules, add capabilities to native execution engines, and improve large-table scan performance
- Participate in design, code review, testing, and release
- Deliver correctness, compatibility, and predictable performance in production systems
- Collaborate with experienced software engineers on consequential data-system problems
Requirements
What you’ll need- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD in Computer Science, Mathematics, Software Engineering, Physics, or a similar field, or equivalent practical experience
- Proficiency in at least one language such as Java, Rust, Scala, C++, or C
- Strong foundations in algorithms, data structures, and concurrency
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Coursework or projects in databases, compilers, operating systems, or distributed systems
- Contributions to open-source projects
- Curiosity about data systems, query optimisers, execution operators, file formats, and distributed processing
- High bar for correctness and willingness to investigate system behavior
- Comfort following problems across languages, services, and stack layers
- Practical, measurement-based approach to performance
- Eagerness to learn, ask questions, and incorporate feedback
