About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Own the month-end and year-end close process, ensuring accurate, timely, and audit-ready financial statements
- Manage day-to-day accounting operations, including A/P, A/R, payroll coordination, reconciliations, and internal controls
- Build and maintain rolling budgets, forecasts, and cash flow models
- Partner directly with the CEO on strategic and operational decisions, providing financial analysis and recommendations
- Identify financial risks, inefficiencies, and business growth opportunities, and recommend solutions
- Challenge assumptions and decisions when financial data does not support them
- Oversee compliance, tax filings, and relationships with external accountants, auditors, and financial institutions
- Develop dashboards and reports covering margins, cash position, and unit economics
- Support pricing, vendor, and cost-structure decisions with rigorous financial analysis
- Build scalable financial processes and systems as the company grows
Requirements
What you’ll need- 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting/finance, including experience at the Controller level or above
- A genuine big-picture mentality: connect financial data and business strategy
- A solutions-first approach: propose ways to fix problems
- Confidence and diplomacy to push back on the CEO or leadership when warranted by the data
- Strong technical accounting foundation, including GAAP, close processes, and internal controls
- Experience in consumer products, CPG, or a similar product-based business is a strong plus
- Comfort operating in a lean, fast-moving environment while owning details and strategy
- CPA and/or MBA preferred but not required if experience demonstrates equivalent capability
- Excellent communication skills and ability to translate financial complexity into clear guidance for non-finance stakeholders
