About the role

Key responsibilities & impact

Originate mortgage loans in an assigned metropolitan territory
Take mortgage loan applications
Conduct preliminary underwriting reviews
Submit loan applications to processing and underwriting for approval
Follow up to secure documents required for processing, underwriting, and closing

Requirements

What you’ll need

National Mortgage Licensing Service (NMLS) registration under the terms of the S.A.F.E. Act of 2008 and Regulation Z and ongoing compliance with all legal or regulatory registration requirements, including maintaining a satisfactory criminal and credit record
High school degree or equivalent
Two or more years of Mortgage, Sales, or Real Estate experience
Ability to work on site at least three days per week if located near one of U.S. Bank’s locations
Ability to drive 2 or more hours per week
Thorough knowledge of pricing and underwriting requirements of various mortgage insurance companies
Working knowledge of underwriting requirements for FNMA, FHLMC, FHA, VA, local bonding programs, and private investors
Familiarity with local, state and national laws, including zoning ordinances, Truth-in-Lending, RESPA, and energy audit requirements
Excellent communication skills and ability to analyze financial information
2+ years of proven success in mortgage loan origination, consistently meeting or exceeding production goals
