Key responsibilities & impact- Act as the accounting expert for engineers, product managers and designers across the product
- Answer accounting questions and explain close processes in practice
- Help teams plan and design by shaping requirements, reviewing designs and specifications, and identifying workflow issues
- Troubleshoot accounting questions, edge cases and unexpected data to unblock teams
- Translate accounting concepts and close scenarios into product inputs and requirements
- Serve as an internal accounting subject matter resource for product, engineering, customer and other teams
- Define accounting rules, SOPs and functional task workflows for automated and AI-driven features
- Validate accounting accuracy and alignment with standard practices through hands-on testing and feedback
- Support QA, design and test-plan reviews from an accounting perspective
- Create realistic test data and scenarios, including edge cases and deliberate errors
- Use AI tools to prototype and test product ideas with the India team
- Review journals, reconciliations, reports and other feature outputs in test environments
- Apply accounting experience across prepaids, fixed assets, bank reconciliations, AP/AR, payroll, revenue and GL reconciliations
- Draft, test and maintain accounting playbooks covering processes such as payroll postings, bad debt provisions, prepaid amortization, leases, accruals, intercompany, cost allocations and cash
- Identify close processes to automate and document accounting treatments, preparer questions, edge cases and journal/reconciliation outputs
- Collaborate with the other AIR in Pune and the Principal AIR in the UK
- Support Product Marketing with accounting questions, concepts, blogs and product explanations
- Work with Customer Success and other teams when accounting context is needed
- Perform other assigned tasks supporting company goals
Requirements
What you’ll need- 6+ years of accounting experience, including at manager level or equivalent responsibility in public accounting audit or industry
- Chartered Accountant, CPA or equivalent qualification
- Broad, hands-on command of the full close, including journal entries, accruals, provisions, reconciliations and month-end processes
- Ability to explain accounting clearly to non-accountants and engineers, verbally and in writing
- Strong interest in AI and automation; experience using AI tools such as Claude or ChatGPT
- Ability to write precise instructions, critically check AI outputs and distinguish correct answers from plausible ones
- Hands-on experience with ERPs such as NetSuite, SAP, Oracle, Workday or Intacct, including data extraction and journal posting
- Experience in a large multinational organisation across multiple accounting areas and entities, including multi-entity, multi-currency and intercompany accounting
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail and standard accounting procedures
- Primary working hours on site in Pune with flexibility for meetings outside India hours and overlap with UK working hours
- Experience working with engineering or product teams is nice to have
- Experience with FloQast or similar close-management systems and other office-of-the-CFO systems is nice to have
- Experience writing SOPs, controls documentation or audit work programs is nice to have
- Experience in implementation, consulting or process-automation projects is nice to have
