About the role

Key responsibilities & impact
  • Develop frontend products using HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6), TypeScript, React.js, Next.js, GraphQL, Apollo Client, Redux, Cypress, Rendertron, and Storybook
  • Work with Google Cloud Platform services including Compute Engine, Kubernetes Engine, and App Engine
  • Use Terraform for configuration management
  • Use GitHub, Slack, JIRA, Spinnaker, and Datadog
  • Develop and operate large-scale products
  • Design and develop with performance and scalability in mind
  • Build solid user interfaces with HTML and CSS
  • Collaborate with product development team members and other teams
  • Participate in version-controlled development via Git
  • Design application architecture based on app characteristics
  • Implement ongoing improvements to the app

Requirements

What you’ll need
  • Shared understanding and belief in Mercari Group's mission and values
  • At least 2-5 years of experience in frontend development, including web browsers, JavaScript, TypeScript, React.js, Next.js, and Redux
  • Experience developing and operating large-scale products
  • Ability to design and develop with performance and scalability in mind
  • Ability to use HTML and CSS to develop solid user interfaces
  • Knowledge of JavaScript and experience developing with UI libraries or frameworks such as React
  • Strong understanding of cross-browser compatibility and best practices
  • Understanding of version management and ability to participate in development via Git
  • Effective communication skills for product development with team members and other teams
  • Extensive knowledge of standard web technologies and specialized knowledge in areas such as TypeScript, React.js, Next.js, or Redux
  • Understanding of different libraries/frameworks and ability to introduce them to projects where necessary
  • Ability to design architecture based on app characteristics
  • Ability to take initiative in implementing app improvements
  • Cloud development experience, preferably GCP or AWS
  • Experience contributing to an open-source project
  • Familiarity with CI systems and the release process
