Key responsibilities & impact- Lead the IT Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) compliance lifecycle across Verizon IT applications
- Serve as the strategic bridge between IT engineering and executive leadership
- Architect and execute the IT General Controls (ITGC) roadmap for financial reporting systems
- Manage planning, testing, evidence collection, and final certification
- Design and implement automated control validation mechanisms
- Eliminate manual processes, reduce human error, and scale compliance efforts
- Serve as lead liaison for the CIO, Internal Audit, Finance, and external auditors
- Streamline testing and align governance standards
- Partner with system owners to evaluate deficiencies and design automated remediation plans
- Direct cross-functional compliance initiatives, track deliverables, manage resources, and mitigate project timeline risks
- Translate audit findings and risk metrics into briefings for executive leadership and steering committees
- Audit modern CI/CD pipelines and maintain financial control integrity
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Accounting, or a related technical field or four or more years of work experience
- Six years of progressive experience in IT compliance, IT internal/external audit, or technical systems engineering; military equivalent experience accepted
- Hands-on understanding of CI/CD pipelines, software development lifecycles (SDLC), database architecture, and cloud/infrastructure security
- Advanced knowledge of SOX audit frameworks, US GAAP/SOX requirements, and ITGC evaluation techniques
- Ability to translate raw audit data and technical risks into clear, business-focused insights for C-suite leaders
- Experience driving complex solutions and analytics for ongoing and automated monitoring of key risks
- Experience building relationships with program leads, developer, operations, and CISO teams to manage security risks
- Agile software development and project management experience
- Performance-oriented and self-directed, with ability to drive change and manage multiple projects
- Experience across the Security and Compliance domain and ability to apply this knowledge to drive cross-organizational initiatives
- Ability to design technically sound control improvements before submission to risk and audit partners
- CSOE or CSOP certification preferred
- CSOX or SOTP certification preferred
- CIA, CPA, or CISA certification preferred
