Key responsibilities & impact- Design and develop electrical wiring harnesses and Electrical Distribution Systems (EDS)
- Create and maintain electrical schematics using SolidWorks Electrical
- Produce and manage 3D electrical routing and harness models
- Support the integration of electrical systems into product assemblies
- Generate and maintain electrical design documentation, drawings, and Bills of Materials (BoMs)
- Collaborate with mechanical, electronics, and manufacturing teams to ensure successful product integration
- Support prototype build, testing, and validation activities
- Implement design changes and maintain accurate configuration control throughout the product lifecycle
- Support ALTEN activities within the clean energy and advanced technology sector as part of the Loughborough team
- Work within a multidisciplinary engineering team on innovative products
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering, or equivalent military experience
- 2–4 years of experience in electrical design, EDS, or harness engineering
- Experience supporting product development within an engineering environment
- Experience designing wiring harnesses and electrical distribution systems
- Proficiency with SolidWorks Electrical
- Experience creating electrical schematics and wiring documentation
- Understanding of 3D routing and harness modelling principles
- Knowledge of electrical integration and system packaging considerations
- Strong attention to detail and organisational skills
- Ability to work effectively within multidisciplinary engineering teams
- Good communication and problem-solving skills
- Experience with electrical system integration and validation activities
- Knowledge of manufacturing and assembly processes for wiring harnesses
- Familiarity with CAD-based electrical routing tools
- Experience within clean energy, automotive, aerospace, or advanced technology sectors
- Understanding of product lifecycle management and engineering change control processes
- This role may require you to have or be willing to go through Security Clearance
- Candidates must complete a Baseline Personnel Security Standard as part of onboarding
