About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Strip, inspect, and rebuild industrial gas turbine components and assemblies
- Complete visual and dimensional inspections accurately
- Carry out gas turbine overhaul activities to a high-quality standard
- Record work thoroughly in controlled documentation
- Prepare parts for transportation to sub-contractors and inspect returned parts
- Complete and sign off work packs within the company quality management system
- Manage acceptance and dispatch of goods through workshop stores
- Safely operate cranes, lifting equipment, and tools
- Collaborate with Workshop, Engineering, and other departments to deliver turbine overhauls on time and within budget
- Participate in project meetings and occasional site visits
- Identify and mitigate risks during overhaul processes
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives
- Support technical problem-solving and customer-focused delivery
Requirements
What you’ll need- Completion of a recognised apprenticeship in a related industry
- ONC or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering; relevant hands-on experience considered in lieu of formal qualification
- Familiarity with industrial gas turbines, GEC units, Siemens Energy SGT mature units, and ideally Rolls-Royce Avon, Olympus, or RB211 generators
- Competent in Microsoft Office or similar business systems
- Strong mechanical aptitude and practical engineering skills
- High attention to detail, engineering focus and a methodical approach to work
- Effective communication and teamwork skills
- Awareness of challenges within the Energy industry
- Ability to work independently and as part of a small team
- Awareness of site repair, maintenance, and installation challenges
- Basic project and financial awareness
- Commitment to safety, quality, and customer satisfaction
