About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise and coordinate daily job tasks of Slitting department employees
- Develop a cross-functional workforce
- Standardize, challenge, and optimize Daily Management Skills, Problem Solving Techniques, and Continuous Improvement Activities
- Promote safety, quality, accountability, and continuous improvement
- Drive health, safety, and environmental improvements through Slitting and manufacturing processes
- Develop and implement standard work, procedures, and standard operating procedures
- Coordinate material and product flow with other department supervisors
- Lead a quality-based culture through the Slitting process
- Recommend and implement measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and product quality
- Coach employees to ensure compliance with standards
- Resolve employee conflicts through coaching and accountability
- Manage team performance through training, coaching, motivation, and mentoring
- Partner with Site HR Manager on recruitment, training, development, and disciplinary issues
- Work with Process Engineers to define processes, establish capability, and ensure employee training
- Maintain inventory control and proper raw-material labeling
- Build relationships with internal and external stakeholders
- Implement and manage continuous improvement and Lean manufacturing principles
- Interpret job orders, priorities, and schedules; assign duties as needed
- Establish or adjust work procedures to meet production schedules
- Suggest changes to working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency
- Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in resolving them
- Initiate or suggest plans to motivate workers to achieve goals
- Prioritize and organize the Slitting area, including 5S
- Run assigned shifts efficiently, delegate responsibility, and prioritize work
- Execute the Slitting department's strategic vision in alignment with plant operational and financial goals
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree (B.S.) or equivalent; or three to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience
- Basic understanding of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Office
- Proven leadership in current job
- Ability to lead culture change and change management
- Ability to empower and hold direct reports accountable for HSSE, Quality, 5S, and productivity
- Knowledge of Slitting work instructions and written procedures
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with high levels of accountability and focus
