About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Generate and execute CPSR-compliant purchase orders based on approved requisitions, requests for proposals, bids, and related documents
- Perform general tactical duties supporting purchasing activities
- Assist with negotiations under direct supervision
- Apply limited knowledge of commercial contract law, guidelines, practices, and requirements to assess, plan, and negotiate terms and conditions and minimize risk
- Maintain professional supplier relationships
- Resolve supplier issues involving pricing, quality, timing, claims, and contract disputes
- Understand demand and spend profiles for commodity areas and provide information as needed
- Track and report cost savings or cost avoidances
- Maintain accurate records and files of vendor agreements and procurement records
- Assist with sourcing initiatives
- Communicate supplier performance
- Serve as the primary contact between DRS personnel and assigned suppliers
- Support, communicate, and defend the company’s mission, values, and culture
Requirements
What you’ll need- Associate’s degree or equivalent experience
- 0+ years of experience in Purchasing
- Ability to understand and adhere to all laws pertaining to procurement, contracts, breach by contract, and related matters
- Basic negotiating skills
- U.S. Citizenship required
- Active DOD security clearance or ability to obtain such clearance within a reasonable time after commencement of employment
