About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Develop and maintain the plant Quality Management System
- Maintain and implement plant-level procedures affecting food safety and food quality
- Manage internal, third-party, regulatory, customer, and vendor audits
- Lead the internal Food Safety Team and maintain the Food Safety program
- Revise and distribute procedural changes to Quality programs
- Conduct internal and mock audits
- Develop and manage root cause and corrective action programs for audit findings
- Determine annual Quality Program training needs and assist with scheduling and implementation
- Provide customer-required documentation, including reports, Certificates of Analysis, and complaint or inquiry responses
- Train employees on GMP, Food Safety, and allergens
- Maintain and update the plant recall program and conduct traceability exercises
- Ensure compliance with quality systems and GMPs through audits, verifications, and validations
- Administer foreign material and allergen control programs
- Provide Quality leadership in the absence of the Quality Manager
- Collaborate with engineering on change management for facility projects
- Lead corrective actions for deviations from customer standards
- Interact with corporate teams and customers to maintain business relationships
- Support management of non-conforming goods through the Quality Notification Process
- Manage a direct report responsible for Quality Systems tasks
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s in Food Science, Chemistry, Engineering, or a relevant technical field
- SQF Practitioner Certification
- PCQI Certification
- Experience leading teams and/or managing direct reports
- Knowledge and experience working with Food Safety Programs and related required documentation
- Experience with GFSI
- Experience reading and interpreting technical documents such as specifications, procedure manuals, and technical data sheets
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Experience working with all levels of employees and internal and external customers in individual and team-based situations
- Minimum 4 years of Quality experience in food, beverage, flavor, ingredient and/or pet food manufacturing
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively verbally and in writing
