Key responsibilities & impact- Build the block, file, and object storage stack for training, sandbox, and general compute workloads
- Design and write storage services in Go, including S3-compatible APIs, tiering, backup and recovery, and caching layers
- Own the data plane, including allocation, duplication, tiering, backup, and recovery
- Plan capacity across datacenters and failure domains at petabyte scale
- Partner with Product Managers to shape the storage roadmap and make technical and business tradeoffs
- Help determine which storage capabilities to build versus buy and deploy or harden vendor solutions
Requirements
What you’ll need- Experience building storage systems, including object, block, or distributed filesystems
- Deep distributed-systems fundamentals: durability, consistency, replication, erasure coding, and failure domains
- Production experience with Go; systems engineers from C++ or Rust who are ready to write Go daily are also considered
- Comfort with HDD, SSD, and NVMe storage tiers and their economics
- 5+ years building backend or infrastructure systems
- Experience partnering with product, design, and business teams to ship software used by real users
