About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Lead inbound procurement contract negotiations and ongoing contract lifecycle management across HR, benefits, payroll, travel, marketing and events, contingent labour, corporate services, real estate, facilities and IT
- Focus on GDPR, data privacy and information security matters
- Help develop scalable tools and processes supporting a growing global business and procurement transformation initiatives
- Draft, evaluate, review, interpret and negotiate supplier agreements, including statements of work, in accordance with legal standards
- Develop contract strategies and lead negotiations throughout the contract lifecycle, including change orders, disputes, corrective actions and contract close-out activities
- Research global data protection laws and policies
- Review privacy impact assessments and support related data protection activities
- Review and transition supplier contracts resulting from mergers and acquisitions
- Capture contracts in the contract repository and establish them for ongoing management
- Identify and assess contractual risks and opportunities, escalate concerns and recommend appropriate actions
- Collaborate with cross-functional global teams and stakeholders at all organizational levels
- Educate procurement teams on legal, contracting and risk-management practices
Requirements
What you’ll need- JD, LLB or an equivalent legal qualification
- At least three years of post-qualification experience
- Two to four years of commercial contract management or legal experience
- CCCM, CPCM or a similar contract management certification, or equivalent relevant experience
- Knowledge of common law and/or civil law
- Experience assessing and mitigating supplier data privacy and information security risks, including contractual, regulatory and operational risks
- Experience negotiating Data Processing Agreements and information security terms
- CIPP or an equivalent recognized privacy certification is required
- Strong stakeholder management, communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to collaborate, influence and engage effectively with all organizational levels, including executives
- Experience working with cross-functional global teams
- Strong attention to detail and ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-changing environment
- Fluency in written and spoken English is required
- French or another language, such as Spanish, Portuguese or German, is considered an asset
