About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Handle all aspects of Motor Truck Cargo, Vehicle Physical Damage, Car Hauler Liability, Commercial Property, Contractors Equipment, and Warehouse Legal Liability claims
- Develop expertise in handling and investigating complex claims
- Handle genuine claims proactively according to best practices and AIG quality standards
- Promote and demonstrate Treating Customers Fairly principles in claims handling
- Identify and review suspect or fraudulent claims according to established guidelines
- Maintain regular contact with internal stakeholders, brokers, medical experts, clients’ lawyers, victims, and legal representatives
- Build effective relationships with internal and external customers and act as a point of referral
- Support Team Managers and deputize in their absence
- Assist with monitoring market and industry practices in claims handling
- Collaborate with underwriting colleagues to improve products
Requirements
What you’ll need- Knowledge of legal/regulatory and litigation/procedural requirements for marine claims
- Specialist knowledge of marine technical claims topics preferred
- At least some experience in negotiation, mediation, and arbitration
- Policy language skills enabling accurate and consistent policy wording interpretation
- Lateral thinking and problem-solving ability
- Ability to develop new ideas to improve working practices
- Strong communication, time management, administrative, and report-writing skills
