Key responsibilities & impact- Own accounting for an assigned book of work, primarily executed through AI agents running on Maynard alongside AppFolio
- Direct, supervise, and quality-control AI agent output
- Use AI to perform complex reconciliations, investigate accounting problems, and automate manual work
- Prepare and review journal entries and reconciliations
- Review AI- and system-generated entries and reports for accuracy, completeness, proper coding, and U.S. GAAP compliance
- Investigate and resolve exceptions and determine when human intervention is required
- Improve agent workflows, prompts, rules, and controls in partnership with the CFO and engineering team
- Work with three other Accounting Managers to deliver timely and accurate financial statements
- Coordinate the close calendar and hand-offs across the manager group
- Support monthly, quarterly, and annual close and produce U.S. GAAP-compliant financials
- Provide the CFO with variance explanations, supporting schedules, and management reporting for lenders, owners, external tax preparers, and auditors
- Ensure balance-sheet accounts are reconciled and supported
- Confirm AP and AR subledgers tie to the general ledger
- Investigate and clear aged, unapplied, or exception items and document resolutions
- Oversee accounts payable and accounts receivable processing, payment runs, billings, receipts, and reconciliations
- Oversee corporate accounting close, including accruals, prepaids, intercompany activity, reconciliations, and corporate financial statements
- Oversee client onboarding and offboarding accounting workstreams
- Review property financial statements for abnormal balances, misclassifications, and unreconciled items
- Report directly to the Chief Financial Officer
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance (or equivalent professional experience)
- Solid accounting experience with a strong grasp of general ledgers, reconciliations, and financial statements
- Strong working knowledge of U.S. GAAP and U.S. accounting practices, including accruals, reconciliations, and month-end close
- Hands-on experience with AppFolio, including transacting, configuring, and reporting
- Real enthusiasm for AI tools such as Claude Code, Codex, ChatGPT, or similar
- Analytical mindset and willingness to learn SQL, APIs, and automation
- Strong review judgment and ability to identify errors in accounting outputs
- Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex accounting problems
- Excellent written and verbal English communication
- Ability to coordinate with a U.S.-based leadership team and peer managers
- Ability to work remotely from the Philippines with dependable internet
- Regular overlap with U.S. Pacific business hours
- Experience in U.S. property management, real estate, or multi-entity accounting environments is nice to have
- CPA (Philippines or U.S.) or equivalent professional certification is nice to have
- Experience with accounting automation, RPA, AI tooling, or proprietary/custom accounting systems is nice to have
- Experience onboarding new properties/entities or converting balances from a prior accounting system is nice to have
- Comfort working across multiple AppFolio databases/tenants is nice to have
