About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Coordinate and oversee drivers, trucks, and containers to create capacity, maximize productivity, and ensure prompt, courteous, and efficient service
- Ensure compliance with required safety policies and procedures
- Analyze daily route information and implement routing changes
- Analyze same-day changes and next-day planning to improve route efficiency and design
- Verify route data accuracy and ensure routes are closed on time
- Evaluate and resolve problems arising while trucks and drivers are in transit
- Manage driver safety and security of company assets
- Collect, interpret, and analyze logistics data including inventory, asset reliability, and route data
- Communicate constantly with drivers regarding route progress and required information
- Evaluate and escalate driver performance issues
- Schedule customers in response to missed pickups and service commitments
- Create routes with maximized capacity and review driver load goals
- Monitor routing activities, swing routes, pickup and delivery timing, and disposal plans
- Meet with the Operations Manager regarding disposal plans and recommendations
- Determine whether service requests can be pulled forward to improve efficiency and customer experience
- Interact courteously with customers and communicate route issues and delays
- Review routing media and process service exceptions, general messages, and extra-service information
- Execute universal service commitments to ensure customer satisfaction
Requirements
What you’ll need- Analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with rapidly changing priorities
- Skillful with Microsoft Office Suite or similar software
- Ability to understand and execute time-sensitive tasks
- Experience in a customer-facing position
- Two years of prior experience working in a Dispatcher or similar leadership role preferred
