Key responsibilities & impact- Plan and execute Master Production Schedule production orders to meet sales demands for assigned product groups.
- Review and revise the MPS for design changes, labor or material shortages, backlogs, and other interruptions.
- Coordinate with R&D, Engineering, Sales, Operations, and other departments.
- Identify economic order quantities while considering supplier MOQs, multiple locations, and inventory/warehouse space.
- Execute the Material Requirements Plan by placing and managing purchase orders with vendors and contract manufacturers.
- Maintain open purchase orders, monitor ETA changes, and support Accounts Payable with purchase-order-to-invoice discrepancies.
- Drive continuous improvement in planning and procurement processes.
- Work with Strategic Sourcing to secure suppliers and resolve supplier issues, delays, and quality issues.
- Manage materials and supplies inventories to meet production and company goals.
- Maintain vendor communication to ensure delivery and quality requirements.
- Coordinate relationships with contract manufacturers and act as liaison on product changes, quality issues, and supply-chain concerns.
- Monitor inventory turns and develop improvement recommendations.
- Analyze and manage MPS, MRP, material master, and parameter data within ERP and IBP/S&OP systems.
- Maintain relationships with Operations, Quality, Sales, Finance, and key suppliers.
- Participate in daily production and weekly scheduling meetings.
- Complete special projects, including new product development.
- Limited travel may be required for performance reviews and audits.
Requirements
What you’ll need- Bachelor’s degree and 3-5 years’ directly related experience.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Materials Management, Supply Chain, or related discipline preferred.
- 3-5 years’ experience in buyer/planner, or similar, role.
- Advanced knowledge of procurement/planning principles, theories, and processes.
- Previous background in chemicals/packaging, inventory planning, and/or contract manufacturing.
- Strong applied math skills, with the ability to resolve complex issues in a timely and efficient manner.
- Ability to gain knowledge of company products and comply with company quality, environmental, and safety policies and procedures.
- Understanding of and adherence to FDA and GMP requirements.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Excellent computer skills and proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Ability to analyze situations and solve problems.
- Strong organizational, detail-orientation, accuracy, and multitasking skills.
