Key responsibilities & impact- Manage quarterly financial statements and reporting processes, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Prepare or review journal entries and ensure accuracy of accounting transactions
- Manage monthly reconciliation processes
- Lead development of accounting samples and complete administrative and ERP system testing for new products or reinsurance transactions
- Analyze key trends and variances driving financial results
- Develop and document procedures and ensure accounting accuracy
- Support preparation and communication of financial information for auditors, insurance examiners, rating agencies, insurance agencies, and IRS leadership
- Participate in projects related to financial reporting or financial contracts
- Identify opportunities for and lead implementation of process improvements
- Work with Accounting Policy to design accounting for new products or reinsurance transactions
- Prepare schedules and exhibits for internal and external reporting, including rating agency presentations, blue book financial schedules, and internal data and metrics for senior management
- Work closely with internal and external auditors
Requirements
What you’ll need- Accounting experience with exposure to GAAP, statutory, management-based, and tax for financial reporting and budgeting
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Accounting, Finance, Math, or a related field, or equivalent relevant experience
- Knowledge of insurance accounting concepts and products
- Demonstrated initiative to serve as a resource for team members and independently manage projects
- Written and verbal communication skills to provide superior customer service to a variety of business partners
- Demonstrated analytical skills to review and analyze financial statements and reports
- Understanding the structure of the data within financial and administration systems
- Excellent attention to detail
- Ability to effectively multi-task and meet prescribed deadlines on a continuous basis
- Preferred: CPA designation
- Preferred: Reinsurance accounting experience
- Preferred: SAP general ledger experience
