Key responsibilities & impact- Lead a team of engineers designing, building, and supporting The Home Depot's technical infrastructure
- Lead configuration, debugging, and support for information technology solutions
- Lead field and corporate technology rollouts

- Create and optimize specifications for technology solutions

- Participate in modern systems engineering communities of practice and learning activities
- Research business trends and behavioral data to identify strategic opportunities
- Lead evaluation, development, and recommendation of strategic technology solutions
- Research and design infrastructure, network, database, cloud, AI, and security architectures
- Create and maintain infrastructure as code and AI models
- Participate in strategic project planning and management across multiple efforts
- Develop formal training courses
- Collaborate with product and project teams to enable infrastructure solutions

- Monitor applications, infrastructure, networks, databases, and security; optimize performance
- Drive root cause analysis, debugging, support, and post-mortem analysis for security incidents and service interruptions

- Lead in-house technical documentation

- Mentor junior Systems Engineers
- Convert knowledge-base articles into AI models

Requirements
What you’ll need- Must be eighteen years of age or older
- Must be legally permitted to work in the United States
- Bachelor's degree program or equivalent degree in a field of study related to the job
- Minimum 3 years of work experience
- Professional or educational experience in multiple Information Technology disciplines
- Proficiency in collaborative, cross-functional, modern engineering teams
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and remediation within multiple Information Technology disciplines
- Proficiency with debuggers, runtime analysis, library systems, compiled programming, and software update tools
- Proficiency in system and environment analysis, design, and optimization
- Exposure to technical roadmaps, work estimation, refactoring, and modernizing legacy systems
- Experience with object-oriented programming languages, preferably Java
- Experience with distributed computing environments and code reviews
- Experience with system security design and management
- Experience with disaster recovery planning and engineering
- Proficiency in operating system commands, utilities, and scripting
- Proficiency with cloud platforms such as GCP and Azure
- Proficiency in supporting a 24x7 retail operation
- Proficiency with version control systems
- Proficiency with CI/CD toolchains
- Proficiency with production system designs including Infrastructure as Code, High Availability, and performance monitoring
- Experience with Site Reliability Engineering (SRE)
