About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Collaborate with nursing and ancillary departments to ensure appropriate patient placement based on diagnosis, physician preference, and bed availability
- Monitor census capacity and alert leadership when Peak Capacity Plan activation thresholds are reached
- Perform bed flow functions, including bed ordering and appropriate room assignments
- Assist with direct admit requests
- Maintain accurate bed availability information
- Maintain knowledge of floor specialty and physician preferences related to patient placement
- Assist with creating and updating Clinical Road Maps and Patient Placement protocols
- Communicate and coordinate high-priority patient movement and navigate barriers to patient placement
- Project accurate placement of incoming patients using current census information and potential inpatient bed needs
- Act as an expert and Super-User for the Bed Management software platform
- Assist with Transfer Center calls and communicate priorities to transfer center RNs
- Provide handoff information to the next shift regarding pending bed activity, admissions, discharges, and transfers
Requirements
What you’ll need- Must reside near Des Moines, Mason City, or Davenport
- Minimum 2 years previous experience in a health care setting
- High school diploma or GED required
- Knowledge of Medical Terminology required
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Knowledge and efficient use of electronic health record, bed tracking systems, and basic office equipment
