Key responsibilities & impact- Serve on the executive team and help lead the next growth phase of the business
- Report on technology to the Board as needed
- Set Billd’s technology and product strategy and own the roadmap
- Lead the next stage of Billd’s AI transformation in software development and customer/team products
- Track emerging AI models, tools, and practices and adopt relevant innovations
- Own platform architecture and make engineering, architecture, and build-versus-buy decisions
- Write, review, and ship code alongside the team
- Own platform delivery, reliability, and uptime
- Advance AI-first development practices, including AI coding agents, automated testing, and review standards
- Own product vision and roadmap with the VP of Product
- Work directly with customers, partners, and industry stakeholders to understand market needs and use cases
- Identify growth opportunities and turn them into customer value and revenue
- Build customer feedback and usage-data processes to measure product-market fit and prioritize development
- Partner with the GM of Financial Products on technology for Billd’s financial products
- Own information security, IT, cloud infrastructure, physical facilities, and SOC 2 compliance
- Own the data platform, including warehouse, databases, and governance
- Recruit, hire, mentor, and develop Product and Technology talent
- Manage the technology budget, tools, and vendors
Requirements
What you’ll need- 12+ years in software engineering
- 5+ years leading engineering and product teams as a CTO, VP of Engineering, or Head of Product and Engineering
- B2B fintech experience in commercial credit, payments, working capital, or embedded finance
- Personally built with LLMs and AI coding agents and led an AI-first development team
- Hands-on technical depth with Python (FastAPI), Vue and TypeScript, PostgreSQL, and AWS
- Deep expertise in security and compliance for regulated financial data
- Experience managing AWS cloud operations for reliability, scalability, and security
- Led a company through SOC 2 compliance from readiness through audit and maintained compliance
- Track record of leading high-output engineering and product teams in a startup or growth-stage company
- Product leadership experience owning a product roadmap tied to customer outcomes and business results
- Comfortable in front of customers and partners and able to connect technology to business opportunities
- Proven ability to mentor and develop engineers
- Salesforce platform experience is strongly preferred
- B2B SMB or payments-platform experience is a plus
- Experience presenting to a Board of Directors is a plus
- Executive presence and ability to communicate technology strategy clearly to executives, partners, customers, and engineers
