About the role
Key responsibilities & impact- Supervise inbound, outbound, product slotting, receiving, warehousing, and shipping activities
- Manage labor, scheduling, space utilization, equipment, and manpower
- Hire and train employees, assign daily work, conduct performance appraisals, address performance issues, and resolve problems
- Conduct staff meetings and plan continuous improvement activities
- Keep senior management, client representatives, and the Operations Manager informed of critical operational issues and progress
- Develop systems and procedures for safe, profitable, and policy-compliant operations
- Manage operations to meet productivity, service, cost, client KPI, and quality objectives
- Implement and report cost-saving measures
- Supervise, counsel, motivate, and, when needed, discipline team members
- Support Human Resources and assist with hiring, training, professional development, promotions, wage increases, and other HR activities
- Train and evaluate warehouse staff and assess trainee progress
- Plan daily work based on work orders, arrival notices, customer instructions, priorities, and available resources
- Assign duties and supervisory responsibilities to warehouse staff and team leads
- Review pending jobs and trends and plan warehouse-space, supply, equipment, and staffing changes
- Monitor job quantity and quality throughout the day and provide guidance
- Assist in physical operations as needed
- Support and train team members in corporate and client Standard Operating Procedures
- Maintain team motivation and customer satisfaction
Requirements
What you’ll need- High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
- 3 years’ experience working in a logistics, distribution, or relevant environment
- 1 year experience in a supervisory role
- Satisfactory completion of a forklift training program
- Prior MHE certification / knowledge of basic MHE operation preferred
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
- Experience with RF scanners
- Knowledge of WMS functions
- English reading, writing, and verbal skills
- Business communication skills
- Basic to intermediate mathematical skills for verifying quantities, counting inventory, and related warehouse duties
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and personnel skills
- Good written and oral communication skills
- Good leadership, supervision, and planning skills
- Ability to work flexible schedules, including nights and weekends, as required
- Ability to participate in cross-training activities
- Ability to adapt to change and work in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to work mandatory or voluntary overtime as required
- Ability to work in unregulated warehouse temperatures
- Ability to perform the physical demands of the role, including lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling 11–20 pounds, reaching above shoulder, squatting, kneeling, bending, walking, standing, and sitting
